Bidding on the tractor with a $1 reserve with a farm thrown in free has slowed but is still heading in the right direction.
The top bid this morning was $230,200, little changed from midday yesterday, but nudging towards the GV of $260,000.
Gore-based couple Shelley and Allan Holland admit a rush of blood to the head saw them list their farm property on the back of a tractor sale on TradeMe on Thursday night.
The old red tractor was listed on a $1 reserve, with an 8.1 hectare farm in the Catlins thrown in for nothing.
Bidding took off after the auction gained media attention, climbing from $100,000 on Friday morning.
Mrs Holland, who now has a full-time job answering questions on the auction website, said the unorthodox sale was her husband's idea.
She said the couple arrived home from being away on Thursday night and were tired.
"When I went to bed we'd put the place on the market for $1."
It was the most "stupid, idiotic, dumbfounded thing I have ever encountered", she said.
She was not sure how it had all happened. "It's got a bit out of control really."
The couple have not decided what to do after the tractor and property sold but they would really like to travel, Mrs Holland said.
It all depended on how much they got, she said.
By Saturday morning, TradeMe had contacted the Hollands to check that the auction was real and that they would go through with the sale, whatever the outcome.
Mrs Holland assured them it was genuine, saying that was why she was "a little freaked out".
By this morning Mrs Holland had answered 840 questions, with more waiting in the queue for her attention. Page views had reached more than 130,000.
The auction, which closes next Sunday, has people watching from all over the world.
On the back of such extensive publicity TradeMe has offered to donate the $150 success fee to charity.
